Dr. Alfred Murage
He is a Consultant Gynecologist and Fertility Specialist. He previously worked as a Fertility Consultant in the UK before returning to Kenya. He has been an Assistant professor and Head of the Fertility Section at the Aga Khan University Hospital, Nairobi till recently. He is a Fellow of The Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (RCOG), UK, and currently Chairs the RCOG Committee in Kenya. He is also the Interim Secretary of the Kenya Fertility Society and has been involved in initiatives for Fertility Treatment Regulation in Kenya. He is also involved in developing novel initiatives to make IVF treatment more affordable and accessible to needy couples in Kenya, and the wider East African region.
Dr. Murage also plays an active role in collaborative projects with other organizations working in the field of Reproductive Health. He has been involved in collaborative initiatives with the WHO, JHPIEGO, Centre for Maternal and Newborn Health, Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine, UK (LSTM), Jacaranda Health, and with the Division of Reproductive Health (Kenya). He was awarded a recognition plaque in 2015 by the Kenya Obstetrics and Gynecology Society (KOGS), in conjunction with the African Federation of Obstetrics and Gynecology (AFOG), for his contribution to the field of Assisted Reproduction.
Dr. Murage is also an accomplished writer. He pens weekly health columns in The Standard Newspapers and The Nairobian (Kenya) in matters of Reproductive and general health. He has also published a book (Tales from a Gynecologist) which is a must-read for those who enjoy medical humor and satire.
