Gastroenterology

Gastroenterology is the medical specialty that focuses on the structure, functions and disorders of the digestive system. These disorders may affect the esophagus (swallowing tube), stomach, small and large intestines, rectum, pancreas, gallbladder and liver. When these organs do not perform normally, the ability to absorb food is affected and the patient may require the expertise of a gastroenterologist.

We are dedicated to providing each patient with the individualized plan of care they deserve, and offer the best diagnostic and treatment services available. From our board-certified doctors to our receptionists, we take pride in offering quality individualized medical care for digestive disorders.

We specialise in the evaluation and treatment of gastrointestinal disorders such as acid reflux, peptic ulcer disease, intestinal conditions such as inflammatory bowel diseases (IBD), Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS), celiac disease, diverticulosis, colon polyps, colon cancer, and the evaluation and treatment of liver disease, pancreatic and biliary disorders.

Gastroenterologist Procedures

Upper Endoscopy

An upper endoscopy also known as an esophagogastroduodenoscopy (EGD), is a procedure that uses a thin tube with a lens (an endoscope) to examine the upper part of the GI tract. The endoscope travels down the esophagus and stomach, to the first part of the small intestine, the duodenum. An upper endoscopy is performed to evaluate symptoms such as difficulty swallowing (dysphagia), chronic heartburn, nausea, vomiting, and abdominal pain.

Colonoscopy

A colonoscopy involves passing an endoscope (colonoscope) through the GI tract to the large intestine (colon). A colonoscopy is performed to screen the colon for polyps and colon cancer, and to evaluate symptoms such as abdominal pain, diarrhea, and rectal bleeding. We will evaluate your symptoms and suggest if a colonoscopy is the right procedure for you.
